Sealion LAF
SealionTM Liquid Applied Flashing is part of a continuous, building-wide weather barrier system. It is used to adhere, transition and through-wall sheet ashing.
Advantages
- Single-component Easy to gun, spread-and-tool, or roller apply to produce a highly durable, seamless, elastomeric ashing membrane.
- Same day installation of windows, doors and other wall assembly, waterproong or air barrier compo-nents.
- Suitable for all climates, SealionTM LAF bonds directly to wet or dry surfaces and cures under a variety of weather conditions.
- UV exposure for up to 12 months.
- No mold growth.
- VOC maximum 30 g/L.
Cured Properties
- Tensile strenght > 160 psi
- Water vapor transmission (ASTM E 96) 21 perms
- Flash point >200 F
- Temperature required 32 F -- 110 F
Preparation
Apply to clean surfaces free of contaminants.
- Presure treated or re rated wood. Clean with alcohol wipes before applying Sealion TM LAF
- Concrete. Apply SealionTM LAF after 7 days of concrete curing. Ensure the absence of any curing compounds.
- In rouch openings. Apply to raw gypsum board edges in a thin, uniform coat.
- Ensure positive drainage at all rough openings.
- Any gaps grater than 1 inch should be structurally repaired.
Application Gun-Grade
- Apply SealionTM LAf using a professional caulking gun and spread with DRY joint knife, trowel, or spatula.
- Use as packaged. Do not dilute or alter.
- Coverage: 15 - 17 sqft/sausage at 12 - 15 mil
Rough openings and wall penetrations
- Apply a bed of SealionTM LAF in each corner of the rouhc opening and at the sehathing-to-stud transition. Strike smooth with a DRY tool. Joint widths up to 1/4 inch may be treated with SealionTM LAF and no backed rod. Use rod and seam ller for joints larger than 1/4 inch. Structurally improve joints larger than 1 inch.
- Apply SealionTM LAF mover the exterior inside framing of the rough opening and onto the exteror vertical wall surface 4-6 inches to create a 12-15 mil thick monolitic ashing surface. When using with existing weather resistive barrier membrane, extend SealionTM LAF 8 inches over the face of the exterior wall for positive drainage.
- Allow treated surfaces to skin before installing wall assembly components.
